The III bilateral international online scientific seminar of ANAS and Dokuz Eylul University started its work

Based on the agreement between the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and Dokuz Eylul University (DEU) of Türkiye, the III bilateral international online scientific seminar, covering six fundamental fields of science (mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, biology, and chemistry), commenced its work.

It should be noted that the first seminar was held in 2021, and the second in 2022. The honorary chairpersons of the international seminar are the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, and DEU Rector, Professor Bayram Yılmaz. The chairpersons are Vice President of ANAS, Academician Irada Huseynova, and DEU Faculty of Science Dean, Professor Aylin Alın.

Professor Aylin Alın delivered the first speech at the opening ceremony of the scientific event, held via the “Zoom” platform. The Dean recalled the outcomes of previous years’ seminars and expressed her belief that the current seminar would also achieve great success.

Professor Aylin Alın emphasized the significance of the scientific seminar in strengthening scientific ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, conducting joint research, and discussing priority scientific issues. She also conveyed the kind words of DEU Rector Professor Bayram Yılmaz to the participants of the event.

Following this, President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the agreement between ANAS and DEU and the history of the cooperation relations established within this agreement. The President of ANAS stressed that a lot of work is needed to further develop scientific ties between the scientific research and educational institutions of Baku and Izmir.

Wishing the seminar success, Academician Isa Habibbeyli invited DEU Rector Professor Bayram Yılmaz to visit Baku and the National Academy of Sciences.

Academician Irada Huseynova began her speech by greeting the heads of DEU, the organizers of the conference, and the seminar participants. The Vice President said that the seminar coincides with a very significant period for Azerbaijan. Last month, Azerbaijan successfully hosted the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. One day of the COP29 program was entirely dedicated to Science, Technology, and InnovationDigitization issues. She pointed out that today, digitization and artificial intelligence are among the priorities in world science. The achievements and perspectives of biology, in general, with regard to the “green world”, biodiversity, biological and food security, the science of chemistry with regard to ecological and “green” chemistry, as well as the achievements and perspectives of biology, chemistry, and especially physics with regard to “green” energy, were among the most discussed topics during COP.

Academician Irada Huseynova underlined that the main purpose of the current international seminar is to contribute to the development of research on relevant scientific fields, share important results obtained from them, exchange ideas, and, at the same time, to give impetus to future scientific and scientific-technical cooperation.

Afterward, the seminar continued its work in parallel sections across 6 scientific fields.
