On May 12, Acting President of ANAS, Academician Arif Hashimov met with active and corresponding members of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences of the Academy.

The meeting was held following the results of the General Meeting of the Academy on April 27, 2022.

Opening the event, Acting President of ANAS, academician Arif Hashimov said that at the General Assembly it was decided to continue discussions related to the strategic dynamics of the future development of science, the implementation of innovative projects, the improvement of the financial mechanism of the Academy, the expansion of extrabudgetary funds and the definition of a roadmap in general in sections.

Academician Arif Hashimov noted that the Presidium will adopt the final document based on the proposals of scientific divisions.

The head of ANAS said that ensuring the safety of science is one of the important issues, and touched upon the importance of protecting the scientific environment for the protection of science.

The speaker noted that the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences is currently dealing with the problems of biological, agricultural and medical sciences, including water resources and food safety, which are relevant to the world and the country. He noted that staff training is underway.

Academician Arif Hashimov stressed that the real proposals will be taken into account in the speeches and will be reflected in the final document.

Then the vice-president of ANAS, academician Irada Huseynova said that the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences has a rich history and these traditions are still continued. She noted that based on the calls of the country's leadership, research is being conducted in the scientific institutions of the department in the areas of food security, water problems, coronavirus pandemic and other areas. Academician Irada Huseynova also said that the next field seminar will be held on May 20 in the Shikharkh settlement of Tartar region, at the Karabakh Scientific Research Base, organized by the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences and the Institute of Genetic Resources. She said it was of special importance for the restoration and development of agriculture in the liberated areas.

She also noted that members of the Division and other leading scientists are actively involved as experts in many government programs and projects.

Zeynal Akbarov, Corresponding Member of ANAS, who spoke at the event, voiced his proposals for optimizing management, increasing attention to the issues of coordinating research work in the republic with dissertation topics, softening the requirements for defending and approving dissertations in the field of agricultural sciences in order to train specialists who play an important role for food security

He said that the academy has sufficient potential to solve the problem of food security, create and introduce new varieties, and stressed that discussions are underway in the department.

Corresponding member of ANAS Ilham Shahmuradov in his speech drew attention to the financing mechanism and the problem of acquiring new equipment. He also emphasized the need to create terminological dictionaries in a number of areas, as well as the importance of problem councils for considering not only the titles of dissertation topics, but also their relevance.

Speaking at the meeting, Academician Valida Alizadeh drew attention to the importance of conducting various analyzes and made proposals for the training of doctoral students abroad, the classification of specialties in a number of scientific areas.

Corresponding Member of ANAS Nuru Bayramov noted proposals for organizing special courses for doctoral students on working with scientific literature, preparing articles, conducting various analyzes, as well as creating a central registration database of scientific publications and research equipment and instruments.

Corresponding member of ANAS Alovsat Guliyev made proposals on the rules of use of devices and equipment, as well as land and water research, grant projects.

Corresponding member of ANAS Panah Muradov spoke about personnel training issues, corresponding member of ANAS Amin Ismayilov on the efficiency of scientific-research work, online application, corresponding member of ANAS Saleh Maharramov on establishment of relevant scientific council in the field of science he represented, etc. They spoke about the issues and voiced their suggestions and opinions.

In the end, the Acting President of ANAS, Academician Arif Hashimov commented on all the proposals voiced at the event and noted that the issues mentioned at the meeting of the Presidium will be discussed.
