A new unique biomaterial for the treatment of osteoporosis was developed by a research team with the participation of biologists from Samara University named after S.P. Queen. According to the authors of the development, the use of such material in practice will allow to restore not only the lost mineral components of bone tissue, but also organic ones. The research results are published in the Journal of Optical Technology.

Osteoporosis is a chronic disease accompanied by a progressive decrease in bone mineral density. In turn, this leads to increased fragility of bones and the risk of fracture. According to scientists, osteoporosis came in fourth place after cardiovascular, oncological diseases and diabetes mellitus.
